About Mangalam Research Center
Mangalam Research Center will be the center for most activities during the two-week summer institute. During the day, summer scholars and visiting faculty will have open access to the dining commons, lounge, library, and practice spaces furnished with meditation cushions and yoga mats. MRC will host collegial working lunches each week day in its dining commons. As a volunteer-centered community, MRC offers small personal touches such as optional morning yoga and fresh home-baked treats (including vegan and gluten free options!) Our staff will organize and guide informal trips to the Berkeley Rose Garden, UC Botanical Gardens, and the famous North Berkeley walking paths for interested participants. There will be a private, docent led tour of the University of California’s BAMPFA collection of Tibetan art and current exhibits, and a day-cruise on the San Francisco Bay on the 82-foot staysail Schooner Seaward.
